Car wash for animal aid - The Star 05.08.2007
KUALA LUMPUR: The Independent Pet Rescuers (IPR) came out in force with their buckets and sponges on July 28 in an effort to raise funds for an animal shelter.
IPR, a non-profit volunteer-run group, was set up to rescue and nurture abandoned animals.
The team organised the charity car wash, sponsored by auto detailer Carnauba Autospa which provided venue and services. All proceeds from the day's car wash went towards the noble cause. The event was the first of its kind.
The participation of local celebrities such as hip-hop group Natchatra as well as Miss Malaysia Indian beauty queens added an element of glamour. Children who tagged along were entertained with animal-sculpted balloons and a fun fair.
On-the-spot animal adoptions also took place.
Those interested to contribute towards IPR's shelter fund can contact Sherrina Krishnan at ksherrina@gmail.com for details.
