Washing cars for homeless animals - Malay Mail 08.08.2007
THE Independent Pet Rescuers (IPR) came out in force with their buckets and sponges recently to raise funds towards building an animal shelter.
The team from IPR, a non-profit volunteer-run group, formed to rescue and nurture abandoned animals, organised the charity car wash to assist them in their mission to rehabilitate and pay the medical bills of abused and abandoned animals.
Sponsored by premier auto retailer Carnauba Autospa, which provided the venue and services, all proceeds from the day's car wash went towards this noble cause. The event was the first of its kind for animal charity in Malaysia.
"Carnauba Autospa takes great interest in the community. Therefore, we are pleased to come alongside the IPR to lend a helping hand," said Carnauba Autospa branch manager P.Vasudavan.
"Requiring commitment, time and enthusiasm, we believe our approach is similar to how a good pet owner would care for his or her beloved pet," he added.
The participation of local celebrities such as hip-hop group, Natchatra as well as beauty queens from Miss Malaysia Indian pageants added an element of glamour to this charity event while children were thrilled by animal-sculpted balloons and the fun-fare.
On-the-spot animal adoptions also took place.
